In recent years the region has hosted the highly successful World Gymnastics Championships in 2022, Vitality Netball World Cup in 2019, and The Open Golf Championships at Royal Liverpool in 2023. Looking forward the Open Golf Championships will return to the region in 2026 at Royal Birkdale and Everton’s Bramley Moore Stadium has been named as one of the nine host cities for the EURO 2028 to be hosted by the UK and Ireland.
