This year, Liverpool Place Partnership returned to MIPIM Cannes, with a fantastic delegation of Liverpool City Region’s most successful and ambitious property sector partners – Talented visionaries who are actively reshaping our city region, through exciting, one-of-a-kind developments.
MIPIM Cannes is the premier event in the European Real Estate calendar. It attracts in the region of 26,000 investors, developers, landowners, property agents, lawyers and planning consultants, to discuss multi-billion pound opportunities that can shape cities, resorts and regions in the years to come. This year, the event returned to its traditional March dates in Cannes, France from the 15-18 March.
Marketing Liverpool Director, Chris Brown, believes the event is critically important for the Liverpool City Region and has the potential to generate long-term, substantial investment, he said:
“For the first time since 2019, it has been great to be back at MIPIM presenting the investable opportunities within the Liverpool City Region with our private and public sector partners without whom we wouldn’t be able to be here.
“This year’s first post COVID MIPIM was always going to be more challenging particularly as we only had 6 weeks to pull together our program but we always felt we needed to maintain a presence particularly as this was the first one after BREXIT. We also decided to move from our usual inside space to an outside pavilion and in doing that not to hold events there but to ensure that we strategically positioned our leadership in sessions particularly with DIT (Department of International Trade), London and Newcastle, Estates Gazette and Real Estate live
“The support of Katherine Fairclough, Mayor Joanne Anderson and Tony Reeves has enabled us to have a strong presence within Government events and we also welcomed 12 DIT members and the British Property Federation to our Investment dinner on Tuesday. There is no doubt that we have really strengthened our relationship with Government particularly around our innovation credentials and the opportunities provided through the Freeport. It’s also provided us with an opportunity to input into the levelling up discussions and the importance of these to our area.
“Despite a reduction in numbers to the event we have been delighted with the level and quality of enquiries with a nice balance between end user and those looking for capital investment opportunities and that they are looking to invest over the long term
“For our private sector stakeholders it’s really important that they have a positive experience and having made the commitment to support the City Region presence it’s great to see that many of them are going to come back to Liverpool with some strong leads and enquiries
“Our number one priority upon our return must be to thoroughly follow through on all the leads that we have attained and make sure we capitalise on them as these are the real tangible benefits
“MIPIM is an opportunity to maintain, develop and create new relationships and partnerships and we have undoubtedly scored well in all three areas so the Liverpool Place partnership with all its partners will look to build on these in May when we will be present in Leeds at the UKREiif Real Estate Event.
This year we centered our marketing activity messaging around three key themes, telling MIPIM delegates how Liverpool city region is:
- The UK’s Renewable Energy Coast
- The UK Capital of Vaccine Discovery, Development and Manufacture
- A UK Freeport and Catalyst for Growth
