GLOBAL GOALS WEEK: LIVERPOOL’S VISITOR ECONOMY LEADERS UNITE TO TACKLE CLIMATE CHANGE

Earlier this month, Marketing Liverpool held the latest in our series of sustainability events, working to help Liverpool City Region’s visitor economy business leaders to move forward with their low-carbon strategy and ambitions.

The event highlighted the exciting progress of Liverpool City Region’s Global Destination Sustainability Journey, examining how we became the ‘Most Improved Destination’ in 2023 and outlined suggested next steps to take things up a gear in 2024.

Speaking during the event, Marketing Liverpool’s Head of Business Tourism and Liverpool Convention Bureau, Jennifer Jensen, said:

“This is the first time we have organized an event like this. This is all about the visitor economy in Liverpool and also nationally, and internationally, and how we can all do our bit as part of Global Goals Week in achieving the sustainable Development goals.

“There are so many great businesses in Liverpool City Region doing amazing work in sustainability, and we need to make sure that we tell the story with the data.”

Founder of 2030Hub, David Connor, added:

“Global Goals Week is an annual awareness campaign to promote action and engagements specifically around sustainable development goals.

“So many people who are really supportive of this topic, and it’s about how we can all collectively take that outside of the stream and into our communities. I think people are genuinely looking for ways that they can change, even if it’s small parts.

“We can inspire and engage the community much more so that we can all work towards a more sustainable future and we can really make a difference together. Hopefully, we’ll see you again very soon, but thanks a lot for coming.”

Senior Project Manager at Feedback Global, Lucy Antal, said:

“It’s just having that overall vision and working on it together that makes us sustainable. In the end. We’ve all got a part to play.”
