BRINGING LIVERPOOL TO THE WORLD TRAVEL MARKET

This month, Marketing Liverpool had the opportunity to attend World Travel Market at the ExCel centre in London’s Docklands. This is one of the biggest trade exhibitions of its kind – and it’s like having the whole world under one roof!

Described as the largest global community of people who think travel is the ultimate industry to be in. World Travel Market is a community that is passionate about new ideas, technologies and solutions, which works to enable the next generation of travel businesses to emerge and thrive.

It is estimated that there were around 5,000 destinations exhibiting with around 51,000 visitors over the three day period. This year, VisitLiverpool booked a pod on the UK Inbound stand, providing us with a fantastic opportunity to meet and do business with buyers from across the world.

Together with a selection of Liverpool City Region partner, Marketing Liverpool Campaign Manager, James Wood represented our region at the event and extols its value, he said

“There was real positivity and enthusiasm at this year’s exhibition, demonstrated in the numbers coming through the doors. Liverpool’s collaborative approach to exhibiting is a winning formula – where hero products are presented alongside our latest highlights like Eurovision, Shakespeare North and Liverpool Biennial.’’

“Events like World Travel Market provide fantastic exposture for Liverpool City Region as a visitor destination. Liverpool as a brand and a place has fantasic, global name recognition, which is an amazing advantage. It brings people in when they already have a connection to a place. Nevertheless, it’s still vitally important that we keep telling people what’s new, exciting and happening now in Liverpool.

“Our city region’s story is forever developing, we are constanly coming us with new things to do, places to stay and attractions to see in Liverpool and our offer expands exponentially every year. Delegates at events like World Travel Market love to find out what it’s like to experience Liverpool today. Of course it never hurts to remind people of our exisiting world-famous attractions and assets. It never hurts to play the hits alongside a selection of new offerings!”
