EVENT: ‘St Helens & Liverpool Impact Day’ Business Networking Breakfast

The delayed 2021 Rugby League World Cup will be the sixteenth staging of the Rugby League World Cup and will be held in this country from 15 October 2022 to 19 November 2022.

Liverpool and St.Helens will welcome the Tonga and Italy Men’s National teams as part of their host status roles at the Rugby League World Cup. The teams will stay in Liverpool during their time here, where they’ll experience the City first-hand, before preparing for matches in St Helens, using St Helens Council’s £3.6m state-of-the art Ruskin Drive Sports Village; Cowley International College; and the new fitness suite at Newton-le-Willows Health and Fitness.

As well as hosting the two teams for accommodation and training purposes, St.Helens will also stage matches at the Rugby League World Cup, at St Helens R.F.C.’s 18,000 capacity Totally Wicked Stadium, considered by many to be the best purpose-built club rugby stadium in the country. Three exciting Group matches will be played throughout late October including:

  • 18 October 2022 – Tonga v Papua New Guinea
  • 24 October 2022 – Tonga v Wales
  • 29 October 2022 – Australia v Italy

The overall impact of Liverpool and St Helens’ involvement in the Rugby League World Cup, tipped to be the biggest and best one to date, is expected to boost the local economy by millions of pounds and will benefit the grassroots game through a number of legacy projects.

In advance of hosting these group matches, there is a ‘St Helens & Liverpool Impact Day’ Business Networking Breakfast on Thursday 30th June at the Totally Wicked Stadium, where businesses can learn more about how they can benefit from the World Cup.
