Marketing Liverpool have recently joined forces with BBC Radio Merseyside for a regular feature on Paul Beesley’s Saturday show across the summer months.

Launched on 21 May with an interview with Marketing Liverpool’s Campaign Manager James Wood, the weekly show will featurs a recommendation from VisitLiverpool on different attractions, events, or venues to visit. The aim is to give inspirational ideas for locals on places to explore in Liverpool City Region post-pandemic.

From hidden gems in boroughs around the region to city centre favourites and brand new venues, it gives VisitLiverpool the opportunity to profile some lesser known attractions for locals that are right on their doorstep and even to visitors travelling from further afield.

With an introduction from James, the interview style conversation is led by Paul Beesley and a representative from the week’s featured attraction to talk about what visitors can expect, new updates and how to visit.

The first feature of the series kicked off on 4 June with a conversation with WWII bunker, Western Approaches. The secret underground War Bunker was once a labyrinth of rooms and offices used by war time staff to protect the tactics of the British Armed Forces and is a hidden gem in the city worth exploring for all ages.

On the new collaboration with BBC Radio Merseyside, James wood, Campaign Manager for Marketing Liverpool said:

“We’re thrilled to be working again with Paul Beesley and the team at BBC Radio Merseyside. I hope that this regular feature provides plenty of inspiration to get out and about and discover some amazing experiences across the city region.”
