Liverpool is the host city for a conference of coach tourism industry professionals with the Coach Tourism Association holding its first in-person event for two years at the Hilton Liverpool and Maritime Museum.
The event is the leading business-to-business event for the sector, and brings together coach tour operators, hoteliers, attractions and destinations for two days of business meetings and networking.
Speakers at the conference include well-known travel journalist and broadcaster Simon Calder, as well as the deputy CEO of Visit Britain/Visit England Patricia Yates. The conference is sponsored by Tourism Ireland who are aiming for a big push on coach groups from the UK as their tourism economy recovers, and their head of GB, Julie Wakley will also make a presentation at the event.
CTA chair Robert Shaw, said:
“We are delighted to be coming to Liverpool for our first Conference after the challenges of the past two years. The city has so much to offer for coach groups with some world-class attractions and a fantastic cityscape. Our members are really looking forward to getting together for the first time in two years, and I can’t think of a better place to be doing that than in Liverpool.”
Local Liverpool attractions are playing a key role in the CTA conference with The Beatles Story hosting an evening dinner and entertainment, which is preceded by a reception at the British Music Experience. Other attractions are offering educational visits for delegates, including Strawberry Field, where Julie Baird, John Lennon’s sister, will meet coach industry visitors.
Other trips are being arranged to Liverpool FC, Royal Liver Building and Liverpool Beatles Museum, and Mersey Ferries is putting on a special Farewell Cruise for delegates on Tuesday 8 February.
The city of Liverpool and the region are already a favourite destination for coach groups, but it is hoped that this event will bring even more business to the area and firmly establish its place in the coach tourism market.
