This week we’ve caught up with Emily Jones, Senior Marketing Manager from Sherlock: The Official Outdoor Game.
This is a brand-new, exciting product for Liverpool, from the creators of the hit BBC TV series, Sherlock, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
ITS SOUNDS VERY INTERESTING – CAN TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT PRODUCT?
We run an immersive escape experience in London which has, of course, been closed for a majority of the last year. Although temporarily closing the doors to our venue has been tough, it’s given us a great opportunity to think outside the box and develop new products.
Launching at the back end of 2020, The Official Outdoor Game is an outside detective challenge, with lots of brain-teasing puzzles and clues inspired by the city you play in. Think treasure-hunt meets walking tour. The game originally launched in London and has been such a success that we’re now rolling it out across the UK – and of course, Liverpool had to be one of the first cities on the list!
You play through an app, with digital assistance from Sherlock’s cast, so the game is totally self-hosted, meaning players can rest assured that it’s all Covid-secure.
We’re really proud of what we’ve created and hope the people of Liverpool enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed creating it.
WHAT CAN PARTICIPANTS EXPECT FROM THE GAME?
A fun couple of hours in the fresh air, putting your brain to work, as well as seeing some of the beautiful landmarks of the city. And you’ll see a few familiar faces along the way…
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO POST LOCKDOWN?
I actually started working with the Sherlock team during the last lockdown, so I’m yet to see our West London venue and have a go at the escape room – this is definitely number one on my list now that restrictions are easing.
