This week we’re catching up with Marian from StayCity Aparthotels. A modern and stylish aparthotel in Liverpool City Centre.

Please can you tell us who you are and what you do?

Marian Cotter – Sales Manager for Staycity Aparthotels in Liverpool.

How has covid-19 changed the way you work? Have you had to adapt your business model?

Yes, for me personally after spending 27 years in hospitality it’s the first time I’ve had to work from home, which is quite strange, I miss been out and about and talking to people. Business wise we had to adapt, we created short term residential rates and student rates and also looked at the sectors who have supported us and created special rates for them.

What will be your greatest challenge going forward?

Consumer confidence, as most of our weekend business is leisure, getting the message out to our guests that it is safe to travel and we are doing everything in our power to ensure we have a COVID safe environment.

Have you considered partnering up with other businesses in the city?

Yes, we are partnering with other hospitality venues and restaurants as well as event venues to offer accommodation services to their guests and vice versa we are offering the dining and event requirements to our guests from these venues.

Do you have any useful advice for fellow tourism colleagues across the city region?

Keep in touch with each other, it’s hard for us all at the moment as we have never had to work so remotely and isolated from each other. It wont be long now and we will all be out together again.
