Marketing Liverpool has the accolade of being part of the nominees in the Best Citizen Engagement category at the prestigious City Nation Place Awards, for our work through the pandemic. Other nominees include Barcelona, Helsinki, Limerick, Lithuania, Manchester, Ontario, San Francisco and Toronto.
The City Nation Place Awards are the world’s most respected place branding awards with nominations from across the globe. This year they received a record number of entries, showcasing the continuing creativity and commitment of destination marketing organisations (DMOs) throughout the pandemic.
This Best Citizen Engagement category is all how effectively campaigns got locals on board – a successful place brand is all about people and requires the support and endorsement of local residents and businesses.
Marketing Liverpool presented the Love Your Liverpool and Liverpool Without Walls dual campaign, promoting civic pride during the pandemic and continuing to generate positive momentum behind local businesses when they needed it most.
Chris Brown, Director of Marketing Liverpool said:
It’s fantastic that Liverpool has competed on a global stage and been nominated in this category which fits perfectly with the core of the Love Your Liverpool campaign. Liverpool is only as successful as the people and businesses of the city make it. Together we can make a positive difference and look forward to a great future for the city region.”
Finland were the winners of the category for their campaign: #Vappuathome Finland:’ Once in a lifetime virtual May Day party.
Fingers crossed for next year!
