Celebrating Bold Street is back on Sunday, July 7, showcasing Bold Street’s eclectic food and retail offer.
Liverpool BID Company will once again shine the spotlight on Bold Street next month, when Celebrating Bold Street returns on Sunday, July 7 – promising visitors food, drink and live entertainment courtesy of some of Liverpool’s best restaurants, shops and musicians. Celebrating Bold Street is the finale event of Independents’ Week.
This spectacular street party will see some of Bold Street’s finest eateries, such as Maray, Mowgli, LEAF, Soul of Bold Street – one of the street’s oldest establishments, and American Pizza Slice, come out onto the pavement and showcase their delicious menus to the general public. Bakchich will be laying on an on-street Lebanese barbecue to ramp up the summer vibes, while those of us who love a good burger will have the chance to be among the first to sample Honest Burgers ahead of its opening in the summer.
Soundtracking the event will be Bido Lito!, showcasing a selection of the best up and coming music talent from Liverpool’s vibrant music scene, including some of the artists from Merseyrail Sound Station project, with live performances throughout the day on a special stage located on everyone’s favourite thoroughfare.
Celebrating Bold Street will also include family-friendly entertainment and animation, sure to wow the crowds. The event is the culmination of the BID’s Independents’ Week (July 1-7), a campaign to engage local independent businesses, employees and visitors in celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit of Liverpool’s growing independent business community.
Bill Addy, chief executive of Liverpool BID Company, and chair of the Liverpool Visitor Economy Network (LVEN), said:
“Celebrating Bold Street has become one of the BID’s flagship events. From a visitor perspective it simply is a great day out for all the family, and an opportunity to find out why everyone is talking about Bold Street. The street is magic and unique on every level, not only in the context of Liverpool, but internationally, from the eclectic mix of restaurants and shops, many independent, to the amazing people who work hard to make Bold Street the destination it has become.
“As part of Independents’ Week, it is also a commitment of the BID to fly the flag for our fantastic independent levy paying businesses and the incredible work they do in making Liverpool unlike anywhere else in the world!”
Adam Nugent, owner and managing director, Lalligrass, winners of the Best Independent Retailer at the BID’s 2019 Mystery Shop Awards, said:
“We have been located at the Bluecoat for the last five years, and any initiatives such as Independents’ Week, that encourages more people to use independent businesses, can only be a great thing. Independents really are the beating heart of any city, they are what give Liverpool its unique character, and that should be bolstered and celebrated.”
Sam Turner, media partnerships & projects manager at Bido Lito!, said:
“A large proportion of the cafés, shops, restaurants and venues on Bold Street stock Bido Lito! and it’s a street close to our hearts and studio. In our 100th issue year it’s going to be boss to present some of the great artists we work with as part of Merseyrail Sound Station at this event.
“There’ll be an enticing mix of original, fun and supremely talented musicians soundtracking the Celebrating Bold Street party on the Bido Lito! Stage. We look forward to providing ace independent music for a suitably independent street.”
Like Celebrating Castle Street in May, Celebrating Bold Street forms part of Liverpool BID Company’s destination marketing strategy – creating quality, public events that aim to profile keys areas and businesses within the BID to drive an increase in footfall, sales and repeat visits.
