Liverpool at MIPIM 2018

One of Marketing Liverpool’s biggest projects is co-ordinating Liverpool City Region presence at both MIPIM UK and the international version in Cannes, the world’s largest property and investment conference.

Based on feedback from partners we launched a 12-month programme for companies looking to be part of the Liverpool City Region delegation. As well as guaranteeing presence at the two conferences, it will bring together the city region’s property industry to create closer links between organisations and develop a stronger, unified message to send to potential investors.

Part of that programme is MIPIM UK, which is held in London each October. Last week we attended with more than 20 partners from both private and public sectors, and it’s fair to say it was a success.

One of the major pieces of work for Marketing Liverpool’s design team is creating the stand, and ensuring it is eye-catching enough to leap out and attract visitors. The Liverpool City Region stand was co-hosted for the first time with Knowsley, and many said it was the best stand at the event – which we’d of course agree with! We attracted a lot of interest and it was great to see Liverpool included on the DIT investment showcase.

LCR Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram was part of six official MIPIM UK events, including an ‘In conversation session with Homes England’ and a Metro Mayors’ Think Tank. Also, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority CEO Frank Rogers was a panellist about Transport for the North.

The British Property Forum and GVA event on Tuesday evening at The Lanesborough Hotel was a great way to start the two-day expo.

We had hundreds of visitors on stand, and notably Graham Stuart, Minister for Investment, came to say hello and find out more about what our region has to offer.

We were talk of the exhibition hall having Bean Coffee on stand providing the best coffee onsite – as declared by Twitter!

Knowsley hosted two events on stand for their Shakespeare of the North project, with opening remarks from Earl of Derby.

The Liverpool Business Showcase was standing room only, with panellists Liverpool Waters, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool and Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram, facilitated by Downtown Liverpool. Following that, Wirral Waters and Wirral MBC hosted another popular on-stand event with latest updates and plans.

Steve Rotheram had a private event for MIPIM partners only on Thursday morning, when he announced his ‘One Front Door’ to attract investment to the region – this was well received by the private sector.

The countdown to Cannes is on!
