Liverpool has welcomed Italy’s largest tour operators on a successful two-day itinerary.
Working with our partners across the city, Marketing Liverpool put together a successful two-day itinerary for Italian tour operators.
The twelve companies including Caldana, Remcoviaggi and Grigna Express had the red carpet rolled out while sampling the best of Liverpool’s destination offer. They paid homage to the fab four at The Beatles Story, soaked up culture at Tate Liverpool, stood in awe of the largest cathedral in the UK and tasted fine dining during their stay at Hope Street Hotel.
This was a successful trip for Marketing Liverpool and has already resulted in business for our members, as Caldana has already decided to put together a 1-5 day itinerary for groups wishing to visit Liverpool. Bringing a boost in overseas tourism from Italy, supporting Blue Air routes through Liverpool John Lennon Airport from Rome and Milan and providing vital support to the overall visitor economy.
Paul Winfield, Air Service Development Director for Liverpool John Lennon Airport added: “We have six flights per week to Rome (the main airport of Fiumicino) and from end Winter a daily connection to Milan, 4 flights to Bergamo and 3 to Malpensa.
We also now have flights to Venice, Bari, Pisa and Naples, which will mean next summer 26x weekly flights to Italy from our airport. This was 5x weekly flights 12 months ago.”
